The mission of Oakwood High School is to provide for all students a superior learning experience which emphasizes maximizing each student’s academic potential, character development, positive physical growth, and personal opportunities for success.
Oakwood High School serves grades nine through twelve. The enrollment for the 2011-2012 school year is projected to be 680 students. We have 65 full and part time faculty members on staff.
Oakwood is once again included on Newsweek magazine’s list of “America’s Best High Schools.” An updated listing published on the Newsweek website July, 2011 ranks Oakwood High School 151st on the list of 500 schools and 7th in Ohio. It is the highest ranked high school in the greater Dayton area.
These scores are based on self-reported statistics including graduation rate, number of graduates enrolled in college, number of AP tests per graduating student, SAT/ACT scores, and dual enrollment offerings. Oakwood High School offers 15 Advanced Placement courses. Additionally, students may also earn college credit by taking “dual enrollment” courses in French, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, global politics, chemistry, physics, biology and engineering. Dual enrollment courses are college courses offered on the high school campus for which students earn both high school and college credit.
